Cowboy Bill Emrick Rides By Double Circle Ranch is pleased to welcome Bill Emrick and his family to the ranch. Bill and his wife Amy, and kids Josie and Seth will be an important part of the ranch from now on. In Bill we have a good working cowboy, a farrier, a cowboy poet, a [...] Double Circle Ranch has had another intern. Dave from Seattle is spending a month here doing all types of work. [...] Herding Texas Longhorns Jeremy Balderrama is here working as a ranch hand intern. He is an absolute breath of fresh air – makes you have confidence in the younger generation. He is a college student with major in Animal Science and a minor in Criminal Justice – and a second minor that I can’t remember [...] There seems to be a slightly different philosophy about horses between cowboys and buckaroos. Cowboys value their horses and take care of them. They are the carpenter’s equivalent of a good saw and hammer – tools to be used and well taken care of. Buckaroos come from the old Spanish horsemanship school. They too value [...] Getting back to the differences I’ve observed between the traditional cowboys and the buckaroo we’ve hired, here’s what I’ve noticed about their riding [...] We recently hired a Nevada buckaroo here on the Double Circle Ranch. I am learning the differences between the Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona cowboys we usually have working at the Double Circle Ranch and a buckaroo. And there are a lot of differences! These are some observations of mine and are certainly not true [...] At 20, our new dude ranch cowboy owns his own horse shoeing business, has his own gear and horses, truck and trailer, and is going to ranch [...] It was a badge of cowboy honor to have put in a season at the Circles.
