Hey, cowgirl! Do you need to brush up on your horsemanship or rough terrain riding skills? Or have you never even let your inner cowgirl out before, and now she’s yee-hawing so loud you can’t ignore her anymore? Do we ever have the event for you! Come spend five days at the historic Double Circle Ranch and unleash the cowgirl within.
We’ll teach you some important basic survival skills like GPS and map reading, and then we’ll get right down to business with the horses. There is unlimited riding here, and you should plan on spending long hours in the saddle each day on one of our sure-footed, sweet and sane ranch horses as you develop your riding and horsemanship – sorry, horsewomanship – skills while learning to ride some pretty rough terrain. By the end of the program you’ll be negotiating steep trails, creeks, arroyos and canyons in brushy or timber country as though you’ve been cowgirling forever.
We’ll match you with your horse right away, and you’ll be on the same mount throughout the program so you can really get to know one another. If you’re in the mood for more riding when the day’s lessons are over, you can try your hand at really being a cowgirl, and learn how to work with a herd of over 200 Texas Longhorn steers!
This Double Circle Ranch program is for female participants only. (Please note that your instructors may include both men and women.) You will spend five days at the ranch with 6-8 like-minded women, learning all the cowgirl skills you need to safely and confidently take off in the backcountry on a horse. Minimum age of 15, please, and minors must be accompanied by an adult.

• GPS, maps and basic land navigation
• Ground work with a horse
• Building trust with a horse and getting ready to ride
• How to avoid getting lost, and what to do if it happens anyway
• What to do in case of a real emergency
• Learning to work as a seamless unit with a horse
• Camping out with your horse
