Corporate or Family Team Building

Our Longhorns move in large groups, but there will always be renegades to locate and bring in.

A group of Longhorns being gathered for trailing.

Send your valued employees or bring your family to a team building challenge they will never forget! The Double Circle’s team building program is unique in the industry, requiring a team of 6-8 to gather and trail drive over two hundred Texas Longhorn steers to a new pasture. To successfully complete this challenge, teams learn to:

  • Depend on and trust one another
  • Evaluate and assess a constantly changing situation
  • Strategize
  • Cooperate and work as a seamless unit

Along with all the training, horses and gear you’ll need to accomplish the drive, we will also provide you with a pair of professional cowboys for safety and technical support. They won’t be helping you locate and gather the cattle, though…the team does all of that themselves. Any one team member out of position will turn the steers in the wrong direction or split individuals off of the main herd, requiring all members to learn to work together effectively.

This is a fun and exciting four-day adventure that gives teamwork a real meaning! Because of the outdoor and active nature of the challenge, certain health requirements are necessary. Experience with horses or cattle is not a requirement; most teams will have some members who have never ridden before. This is a learn-as-you-go-challenge.

The Double Circles Team Building Challenge

Day 1. Arrive and unwind. Meet the staff. Receive maps and a driving tour of the area and pastures. Start planning.
Day 2. Meet your horse. Get basic horse riding and safety training. Get a crash course—on horseback—of how to move and control cattle. Tour pastures with emphasis on natural barriers, gates, and other drive considerations. Finalize cattle drive plans.
Day 3. Move ‘em out! Start gathering. The pastures range in size from 500 to 6,000 acres. This can be a difficult task, but will get simpler as the team works more in unison.
Day 4. Gather any stragglers. Double check your head count, and find any missing steers. Kick back for a well deserved rest at the end of the day.  Soak those sore spots! Study lessons learned.
Day 5. Back to civilization, phones and electricity.
