Horseback Riding and Horse Riding Adventure

Out on a trail drive with the Double Circle herd of Texas Longhorns.

Double Circle Ranch is pretty close to heaven for horse enthusiasts. Hundreds of miles of high desert, forest, varied terrain, streams, mountains, high pastures and absolutely unparalleled views await you just beyond the corrals.

Some of our riding guests have never been on a horse at all…others are experienced riders who saddle up frequently. Either way, the horses we choose for the job are experienced, deemed safe, typically know their way home (no guarantees, though!) and will be suited to fit your experience level and size.

Trail riding is unlimited at the Double Circle Ranch. If you want, you can even sign up to join us on one of our frequent cattle drives and work right alongside our cowboys and cowgirls! If you are not an experienced rider, we recommend you sign up first for a horsemanship and horseback riding lesson.

Riding a ranch horse

First off, one of our wranglers will provide you with a demonstration and verbal instruction on horseback riding basics and various safety precautions. We will choose your horse, saddle him up for you (they’re mostly ‘hims’ here, although we do have a couple of mares we adore) and help you become acquainted with your new mount. Once you’re mounted and ready to go, we’ll all head out on the range together.

Bringing your own horse or mule

Want to share your vacation with a horse or mule of your own? Go ahead and bring them! We have horse corrals available within walking distance of the outfitter tents. All we ask is that you provide us with advance notice so we can be sure there is an empty corral waiting for you, and that each horse have a current Coggins and veterinary certificate.
