We have some great ranch horses here at the Double Circles! They are sure-footed and sane, and they know their way around a cattle drive like nobody’s business.

If you would like to ride while you are here, just let us know in advance so we can make sure we have the horses in an accessible pasture and not off in Timbuktu with the cattle. Children under twelve may not ride ranch horses. (Children may ride at the ranch, but only if their family has brought their own horses.)

If you bring your own horse…

We have almost 40,000 acres of wide open riding, but it is not easy riding. Terrain is extremely difficult and rocky, and wildlife is abundant. We have encountered everything from mountain lions to rattlesnakes on our rides, and you can expect the same. The ranch ranges from 4,500 – 7,500 feet elevation and daytime temperatures in the desert can top 100°, so be sure you and your horse are both prepared for the conditions you will encounter here. In addition to your usual tack and grooming supplies, please bring two water buckets per animal, plus your own hay/grain/supplements. Your horse will be housed in an individual corral area an easy walk from your tent while you are here.
