Everything else is the same – great erosion control instruction, good conservation work, free (including the food and camping), beautiful worksite, fun people – AND [...] Erosion Control Workshop Group Photo October 2011 October’s erosion control workshop was a big success – again. It is amazing how much 30 sets of hands can accomplish with a good instructor’s guidance. This time we repaired a breached dirt tank by constructing multiple Zuni bowls separated by rock laydowns. Plus we worked on the [...] Erosion Contol Workshop Outdoor Classroom Hey – we have a few openings still for the October 14, 15, 16 Erosion Control Workshop. It is a great deal – free instruction by Craig Sponholtz of Dryland Solutions, Inc., free camping and free food. We have a good time and get a lot of useful work done [...] We have put in over 120 one rock and other small rock structures designed to slow water so it can infiltrate the soil. [...] Liv Visgirda is here from California to learn more about ranching and sustainable agriculture. She is working on her Masters studying wolf [...] The endangered Mexican Gray Wolf, with only about 40 animals in the wild, used to be an important predator in our area. [...] Unfortunately, a regular person is hard pressed to decipher a grant application and turn it into regular English. I will read directions several times and come up with different ideas on what they really are asking. [...] We have been to Albuquerque for the Quivira Coalition conference. There are always so many intelligent, innovative people in attendance that we feel uplifted and invigorated when we leave. [...] Sure are a lot of challenges when you set out to be a sustainable, alternative energy facility. We bought two used oil burning stoves – one for each house. [...] This will be our 3rd erosion workshop. Price is right- free. Camping is free, food is free, training is free. We even provide the tools. You can’t beat this deal. We had a great time at the last 2 workshops- made lots of good friends. Plus we built over 50 erosion control structures! [...] |
